With its first class starting in Fall2015, the Frederick Online MBA is a flexible program, designed to offer you an option to complete our on-campus MBA’s curriculum at a time that suits you and from any location you are based in the world while at the same time you can continue to work full-time. Through the strategic use of online technologies in education, this program adds real value to those of you who wish to accelerate your career, but, for a variety of reasons, cannot relocate or attend on-campus classes on a full-time basis. You can customize your MBA studies according to your own schedule and career needs using a modular structure and accessing the University’s e-learning platform that allows you to connect with your instructor and other students on the program from wherever you are based in the world. As a member of our Online MBA class, you will benefit from interacting and collaborating with students from a diverse cohort regardless of physical distances between them.

The MBA Program aims to provide students with the fundamental knowledge of current theory and practice across a range of business disciplines and equip them with the practical tools to achieve their career goals. The MBA graduates become more competitive in the market place through developing problem solving skills and applying decision-making tools to address real-life business problems in any industry sector, such as, economics, banking and finance, transportation, engineering, construction, manufacturing, distribution and logistics, retail and wholesale, consulting, services, healthcare.

Delivery and Duration

  • The Program is delivered through the University’s e-learning platform and a variety of teaching resources including peer group activities in teams and self-study.
  • The minimum completion time based on a full-time basis is 18 months (3 semesters). You can choose to complete your studies at a more relaxed pace to suit your personal and professional commitments taking up to a maximum of three years (6 academic semesters).

Assessment Method

The innovative and state-of-the–art curriculum of the MBA program requires the completion of 90 ECTS(European Credit Transfer System) units. Out of these, 40 ECTS are allocated to core modules, 20 ECTS are allocated to electives and the remaining 30 ECTS are allocated to the Thesis Modules.

A brief overview of the program structure is given below.

Required modules: The core MBA curriculum aims to cover the essential business disciplines and improve the students’ analytical thinking and decision-making skills to enhance their professional career. The MBA electives allow students to specialize in areas of specific interest or professional development or to explore new possible avenues. The list of elective courses is always updated and subject to change. Students may choose any two of the available electives to fit their own specific needs and interests. The Thesis modules include the Final MBA Project and a course on Research Methods and Project Planning. The final project offers students a valuable opportunity to put into practice the theory they learnt and knowledge they have acquired on the MBA.

As part of the application you will need to submit the following supporting documents:

  1. Full and up-to-date Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  2. Personal Statement: A short written statement (around 1-2 pages) outlining your suitability to the MBA program and your reasons for applying. You may highlight your professional and research interests and any relevant work experience.
  3. Degree transcripts and any other supporting documents. Please ensure that you submit copies of official transcripts of all degrees or relevant qualifications to date (including any not yet completed). 
  4. Two recommendation letters from people familiar with your work (at least one of them must be provided by an academic referee, the other one can be academic or professional). References can be submitted directly by your referee to the MBA Admissions Team in two ways:
    • Your referee must provide the reference using a professional e-mail address or
    • You can request from your referee to provide a hard copy reference on headed paper, signed and posted to the address of the University Admissions Office.
  5. Any other supporting documents: copies of certificates of relevant examinations such as language test results, GMAT results, etc.

Successful candidates may be invited to an interview which can be attended in person or via phone or skype in order to further assess their suitability for the MBA.

Application deadline

Frederick University academic year consists of the fall and spring semesters. The calendar is arranged so that students may start classes either during the last week of September or the first week of February. Candidates may submit an application for admission in any of the semesters. Due to the fact that formalities for the issue of an entry visa take at least 6 weeks, candidates are urged to file an application at least 8 weeks prior to the expected date of enrolment. Students are expected to be on campus prior to the beginning of the intended semester/session. In response to arising need, courses could be provided within the summer period.

Minimum Academic Requirements:

An undergraduate degree from a recognized university or the equivalent international qualification in any scientific discipline, such as, Accounting & Finance, Economics, Maritime and Transport, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Social Sciences.

Additional entry requirements

Work experience:

A two year’s work experience or a good GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) score would be considered an advantage.

Recognition of Prior Learning

There are no specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning for this Program. You can be granted transfer credits according to the general arrangements for recognition of prior learning of the University.

 

English language requirements

English Language Requirements:

If you have completed your entire degree in a non-English speaking Program of Study, you must demonstrate satisfactory knowledge of English language. Suitable qualifications may include:

  • TOEFL, or IELTS, or GCSE, or IGCSE, or Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English, or equivalent, or
  • High school leaving certificate from a High School where the language of instruction is English, or
  • Satisfactory performance (>50%) at the English Placement Test offered by Frederick University.
