Cyprus is an attractive destination for international students because of the low cost of tuition fees. At the same time, the high quality of education and living conditions are important factors that attract more and more students around the world.

Cyprus is part of the EU so EU and EFTA nationals do not need a visa to visit the country. 

 

 

Requirements for the Cyprus study visa


STEP 1
  • See below the required documents for obtaining an entry permit/blue slip in Cyprus:
  • Cyprus entry visa application form completed and signed.
  • Your passport must be valid for at least one more year, starting from the date of arrival in Cyprus. It must also have at least one blank page for the visa to be affixed.
  • Four recent passport-sized photographs were taken on a white background.
  • Letter of acceptance from the Cypriot educational institution.
  • Original copies of previous academic qualifications together with certified copies translated into English.
  • Proof that you have sufficient financial means to support yourself in Cyprus, such as bank statements, scholarships or sponsorship letters.
  • A clean criminal record issued within the last six months by the police authorities of your country.
  • A bank guarantee, issued by your bank, in an amount sufficient to cover your living and study expenses in Cyprus. The bank guarantee must have been issued within the last six months.
  • Travel health insurance.
  • Any additional documents that your educational institution requires you to provide.
  • Your application should be submitted to the Cypriot embassy in your home country, if there is none then your university can submit your application on your behalf to the Immigration Department and once approved they will send you the copy so that you can travel to Cyprus.
 

STEP 2 
In addition, once you have entered Cyprus you will need to obtain health insurance in Cyprus which covers your period of stay, as well as undergo medical examinations for Hepatitis B and C, HIV, and syphilis and have a chest x-ray to prove that you do not have TB.
This list is not exhaustive. Your educational institution is responsible for informing you specifically about the documents you need to provide and for guiding you through the application process after the relevant university department has taken the necessary steps.
Once you have been admitted to the Cypriot educational institution and after following the instructions of your university, you will be able to apply for a Cypriot student visa. Please note that you will only be able to apply for a student visa through the university where you are enrolled.
