The primary aim of our BSc program in Computing and Information Technology is firstly to educate students to analyse, design, integrate, and manage information systems using information technology, and secondly to prepare students for a successful career as I.T. professionals who make a positive contribution to society. We do so in full cognizance of Philips University’s aims to develop students who value honesty, civility and the dignity of work. At the same time, we hope to give students an enjoyable learning experience, enhanced by innovative pedagogical approach.
Objectives
• To develop a product or process by applying knowledge or programming, web, database, human computer interaction, networking and security tools;
• To participate effectively as a member of a development team and undertake leadership roles when appropriate;
• To take graduate courses or continuing education classes to improve skills and abilities;
• To make positive contributions to community and society by applying skills and abilities learned during the Undergraduate program in Information Technology;
• To make decisions related to work that demonstrate understanding of the importance of being an ethical computing professional;
• To apply communication skills to effectively promote ideas, goals or products.

Graduation from a six-year public or private school of secondary education formally registered by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport and Youth of the Republic of Cyprus or the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs of the Republic of Greece. In addition, evidence that the applicant is competent in written and spoken Greek for courses taught in the Greek language or English through IELTS (Bands 5.5 – 6) or equivalent qualification, for courses taught in the English language*, plus successful completion of a personal interview with our Admissions Officer and a member of the academic staff from the relevant department, either in person, by phone or Microsoft Teams;
General Certificate of Education with a pass mark in five courses, including two courses at Advanced Level and Ordinary passes in English Language or an equivalent qualification;
General Certificate of Education with a pass mark in four courses, including three courses at Advanced Level and Ordinary Level passes in English Language or an equivalent qualification;
Successful completion of a university Foundation program or an equivalent qualification;
Successful completion of 12 years of schooling and in addition, evidence that the applicant is competent in written and spoken English* through IELTS (Bands 5.5 -6) or equivalent qualification, plus successful completion of a personal interview with our Admissions Officer and a member of the academic staff from the relevant department, either in person, by phone or Microsoft Teams.
*Placement Tests
All students are required to take standardized placement tests in English and Mathematics. These tests are administered by the University during the orientation week and aim to assess each student’s potential. These tests measure quantitative and verbal aptitudes. All test scores are then screened by a panel. Appropriate programs are then drawn up to assist students in light of the observations made by the panel. Holders of the General Certificate of Education in English and Mathematics or an equivalent qualification are exempted from the placement tests.

IELTS (Bands 5.5 -6) or equivalent qualification
Philips University receives no direct support from any government body. It therefore relies entirely on tuition fees for its income and financial viability. Fees are calculated on the basis of real economic costs of study. Consequently, the University authorities must be satisfied that a student’s fees will be met throughout the duration of his/her program of studies at the University.
The annual tuition fees for the academic year 2020-2021 for all students have been fixed as follows:
A student is not officially registered until payment is made in full. Unless all the financial obligations to the University have been satisfied, a student cannot register, graduate or have a transcript issued. Students facing unexpected financial problems may apply in writing to the University for an extension of payment, which will consider each case on its merits. Filing an application does not imply automatic deferment.
Any student may be suspended from the University fifteen days after receiving official notice of failure to discharge his/her financial obligations.
No student shall be permitted to sit for final examinations, or to register for a new semester, until financial obligations have been met.
Refund Policy
Tuition fees are normally payable at the beginning of each semester. It is the general policy of Philips University not to refund tuition fees. In exceptional cases of compassion, for example debilitating illness, the University may agree to refund part of the tuition fees after careful consideration of evidence.
Withdrawal Policy
A student who finds it necessary to withdraw from Philips University is not entitled to any refund and is required to consult with the Departmental Chairperson. The date of withdrawal from the University and the symbol “NC” (No credit) for each course are recorded on the student’s transcript of record. Students who withdraw from the University without first consulting the Departmental Chairperson will not be granted honourable dismissal.
