Course Summary

The MBA Programme in Tourism provides a general management post graduate and post experience education for those aspiring to or already at senior management level in tourism companies and organizations and equip them to perform effectively in managerial positions. Accordingly, the aim is not only to pursue an academic theoretical study, but rather to enable theory to apply in tourism companies practice such as programming, organizing and operation aspects of a tourism company. It is a degree which utilizes participants’ work experience, but at the same time instils new skills and provides new knowledge in a real-life business environment. Thus it will develop participants’ ability to make informed decisions about their practice, broaden and deepen understanding of business and management function and processes; foster skills of business research, analysis, synthesis and creativity so as to enhance decision-making and promote organizational well-being within the context of a continually changing and competitive business environment; encourage innovation and awareness of the role of information and technology in innovation; develop awareness of ethical, social, environmental and global issues affecting management decisions in tourism companies.

The MBA in Tourism is a distinctive Programme that encompasses the study of tourism market understanding, leadership, information technology, globalization, strategic planning, and related areas. The program adopts a holistic view of tourism, integrating commercial, technological, financial aspects, and leadership challenges. The Programme curriculum is designed to equip current and future tourism companyleaders with the skills, knowledge and tools they need to manage tourism business successfully.

How to apply

General admission criteria

The Master in Business Administration (MBA) is aimed primarily at graduates of Law, Economics and Polytechnic Schools, as well as graduates of all general and special departments of Business Administration. The general admission criteria are based on the type and quality of previous studies, the grade obtained in previous studies and the suitability of the candidate for the Master in Business Administration (MBA) of study that has been applied for. The University’s admission policy is to make admission offers to applicants who are judged to have the background and abilities to have a reasonable expectation of success in the MBA program to which they are made an offer and who are likely to benefit from university study. The Master in Business Administration (MBA) Coordinator will be actively involved in the review of applications and his approval will be required before admitting any student to the MBA program. 

English language requirements

Satisfactory knowledge of English is essential. The minimum language requirement is a B2 certificate in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages scale. In the absence of such a certificate/degree, candidates will be asked to sit English language exams in order to prove their satisfactory knowledge. After admission, candidates may be required to take additional instruction in English language. 

Admission of students with special needs

The University offers equal opportunities to all students regardless of their physical abilities. Candidates who have some form of disability, which is mentioned in their application, will be examined on equal terms as all other candidates. The candidates should explain in their application form the nature of their disability and inform the admissions office concerning the special needs they will require during their studies.

For a candidate to be considered for admission to the Master in Business Administration (MBA) he/she needs to complete an Application Form, obtainable from the Admissions Office. Once completed the application form should be returned directly to that Admissions Office together with the additional documentation required. An electronic version of the Application Form can be downloaded from the Admissions Office home page or submitted on-line.
