Accreditation by WFME By ensuring the highest scientific and ethical standards in medical education, EUC School of Medicine was accredited through the rigorous standards and procedures of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME), ensuring the following:
Collaboration with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health The School of Medicine is an official host for the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health course “Principles and Practice of Clinical Research” (PPCR) which is taught online by Harvard School of Public Health faculty in Boston. The course is open to senior medical students, graduate students, faculty, staff and researchers interested in clinical research or more general academic research. The PPCR course runs from March to November, with a short summer break. A certificate from the Harvard School of Public Health certainly elevates one’s credentials. US Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) The School of Medicine has been approved by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). With this approval, students and graduates of the EUC School of Medicine can apply to ECFMG to take the US Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) for medical licensure in the US. ECFMG certification is required to evaluate the qualifications of physicians wishing to pursue postgraduate studies to acquire specialization in the United States as well as to be licensed to practice medicine in the United States. Clinical Rotations Students do their clinical rotations in public and private hospitals all over Cyprus, most notably at the Larnaca and Nicosia General Hospitals. In addition, the network of associated hospitals in Cyprus includes the Institute of Neurology and Genetics, the Private Hospital Aretaineon, the Private Hospital Hippocrateion, the Apollonio Private Hospital, the IASO Children and IASO General Hospital, and the Hospitals of the Ygeia Group in Greece. Summer Externships The School of Medicine has established an international network for summer externships for practical training (clinical and research) of its students with renowned hospitals and universities abroad including Shriners Hospitals for Children (USA), Imperial College London (UK), Barts of the London School of Medicine (UK), Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel) and Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel) in the Laboratory of Ada Yonath, Nobel Laureate and Honorary Professor of the EUC School of Medicine. Exclusive Collaborations for Clinical Training The EUC School of Medicine maintains exclusive collaboration agreements with some of the country’s most renowned medical centers including the German Oncology Center and the American Medical Center for students’ clinical training. Internal Market Information System (IMI) The School of Medicine, EUC is now officially recognised by the European Parliament and Council on the IMI (Internal Market Information System) platform. This provides the EUC Medical Graduates with a “European Professional Passport”, promoting their mobility to work or train within the European Economic Area.
