Higher education is available in Cyprus at both the university and non-university levels. Higher education institutions are classified into four types. Public Universities, Private Universities, Public Schools of Higher Education, and Private Schools of Higher Education.
Private universities are private for-profit or non-profit organizations that are registered and recognized by the Ministry of Education and Culture. They provide undergraduate and postgraduate study programs, as well as shorter professional programs.

Public Schools of Higher Education are overseen by various ministries.

Higher Education in the Public Sector:
  • The Public Schools of Higher Education:
  • Cyprus Higher Hotel Institute
  • Cyprus Police Academy
  • Forestry College
  • College of Civil Aviation
  • Mediterranean School of Tourism

The Private Schools of Higher Education:
  • Aigaia, School of Art and Design

Because of the competitive market, many adult programs are now available. The Human Resources Development Authority, the Productivity Centre, Institutions of Higher and Higher Education, and Private vocational training centers primarily provide these programs.
