Course Summary

Special Education - For Ages 5-17
The Special Educator is trained and, with the knowledge they possess, can work and provide learning support to children with learning difficulties, dyslexia, visual or hearing impairments, genetic syndromes (Asperger's), autism, intellectual disability, attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity, and developmental disorders.
Special Education includes educational, supportive, and advisory influence on the student to acquire knowledge and formation. At the same time, the Special Educator contributes to helping parents understand their child's strengths and challenges.

Tools - Assessment Tests
    1. The Derbyshire Language Scheme - Ages 4-15
The "Derbyshire Language Scheme" originates from the United Kingdom and is also used in Australia and New Zealand. This specific test is a language intervention system designed for children facing difficulties in the development of language skills, both at the oral and verbal levels.
    2. Memory Test - Ages 5-12
The memory test is used to evaluate a child's memory capacity and the difficulties they may experience in verbal and visual memory. These difficulties can be related to developmental disorders or acquired learning disabilities. In cases where a child reads, pays the required attention and concentration, but still struggles with understanding and memorizing lessons, it should be investigated whether this is due to their memory.
     3. Test "ΛΑΜΔΑ" - Ages 7-14
The "ΛΑΜΔΑ" assessment test (Learning Abilities and Weaknesses Detection Software) is internationally recognized and is based on a software tool that assesses the indicators of students' abilities in a broader context, not just their school performance. This specific test has been implemented in Greece's public education since 2007 and within the wider educational framework for private education of children with learning difficulties, autism, Asperger's syndrome, and dyslexia."

Prospects

With the completion of all the test sessions, the student can continue with special education support. At the end of the school year, they can undergo a follow-up assessment test to determine the areas that have improved and identify the specific learning domains where assistance is still required. This helps in focusing on the necessary support and educational emphasis for the following school year.
