About us

Aigaia School of Art and Design is a private Institution of tertiary education in Nicosia, Cyprus and was founded in 2005 to provide specialised Art & Design Education. Aigaia offers tertiary education programmes for art and design studies in Cyprus as well as portfolio preparation for entry in Art and Design Academies and Universities abroad. Throughout the academic year, Aigaia offers art and drama lessons for all ages and levels and organises and delivers specialised examinations in art and design and drama. Furthermore, Aigaia offers Easter & Summer Programmes.

Awards & Recognitions

Aigaia School of Art and Design is registered to the Ministry of Education and Culture, as a Private Institution of Tertiary Education offering courses in art & design. Aigaia is accredited by EDEXCEL, UK as a teaching, organising and delivering Institute of all levels of examinations.
Also Aigaia is an accredited center of UCAS (Universities & Colleges Admissions Service) offering to all of the students specialized counseling services and career guidance in art and design. Aigaia Theatre is a registered center for London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) as a teaching, organising and delivering all levels of examinations of all “performing arts” subjects.

The academic team consists of professional artists, designers and academics from all specialised areas and fields, offering knowledge, excellent feedback and experiences to all the students studying in all levels.
Premises
Aigaia School of Art and Design created a unique art school environment in a 1922 building in the Agioi Omologites area, in Nicosia, combining traditional with contemporary architecture. Aigaia’s purpose built premises are equipped with all the appropriate workshops and working spaces to enable the teaching of all the subjects of art and design. The building accommodates specialised workshops, a library, a computer lab, exhibition and performance spaces, staff room, cafeteria as well as facilities for students with special needs.
 
 
Workshops & studios
The teaching of visual arts is always supported by the use of specilaised studios and workshops. The process of developing and completing each task of all the subjects of the courses is carried out in whole or in part, in the appropriate workshop.
Research & study areas
The library is a study area for students, staff and visitors. Its purpose is to help, encourage and inspire teachers and students about the various disciplines of visual and performing arts, while also serving as a presentation and lecture room. Its purpose is to cover a wide range of topics that provide a source of information and research, to enrich the knowledge and work of academic staff, students, even visitors and friends of Aigaia. We are constantly adding new titles to its already collection of more than 1200 books, covering all sectors of art & design, drawing, literature and poetry, general knowledge, architecture, theatre, cinema, photography etc. With more than 400 copies of magazines, CDs, DVDs including documentaries and films about the lives of famous creative artists, movements and artworks.  
The school also has computer room equipped with the software used by professionals in the arts, design, animation and film production, internet and with printing, scanning and photocopying services.
 
Permanent exhibition area
The permanent exhibition area of the School is located in the enlisted part of the building showcasing artworks by professionals, including the Academic Staff of the school. It also serves as a contemporary art and design shop, hosting young artist’s creations such as art objects, ornaments, small paintings and prints, cards, clay charms etc. The shop is open during the working hours of the school.
 
 
“Aigaia” Theatre Space
Harmoniously integrated within the building of the School of Art & design – with main design features of versatility and flexibility in the arrangement of seats and the stage. It is equipped with the necessary performance equipment (light – sound – projector) and a normal arrangement of the space accommodates approximately 70 seats. These provide unique possibilities of different arrangements of the layout of the space depending on the requirements of each event. The space is ideal for plays, theatrical performances, rehearsals, art exhibitions, poetry workshops, various presentations, corporate events, lectures, seminars etc.
Ancient burial spaceThe ancient burial space found and preserved in the premises of the school, dates back to the Hellenistic period – 400 BC. It marks its own special significance for the solid foundations that Greek tradition so generously offered to the school to fulfill its mission.
